On the occasion of Family Literacy Month and to dispel the myths about dyslexia, Al Marji’ Publications invited its Educational Psychologist Dina Halaseh from Mind Matters to assist parents in effectively addressing their children’s reading challenges in a candid discussion at Readers Bookshop last Saturday, November 2019.

"Dyslexia causes difficulties in reading, writing, and spelling, but our focus today is on helping struggling readers," explains Hind-Lara Mango, Publisher and Managing Director of Al Marji’ Publications, publishers of Jordan’s only parenting magazines-Family Flavours and Nakahat ‘Ailiyeh.

Readers Bookshop, Mind Matters and Juthour organic food sponsor joined forces with Al Marji’ Publications to host this event.

Halaseh advised parents that "dyslexia is related to how a child processes sounds and links the sounds to the symbol when reading." As a brain trainer, Halaseh works with children and adults to develop their cognitive abilities through her center, Mind Matters.

Chief Executive Officer of THE Group, Imad Bukhari points out, "Dyslexia affects thousands of children across the country; no child should have to struggle with a disorder when there are proven methods to help."

Readers Bookshop hosted this event to raise awareness and encourage parents and their children to discover the joys of reading together. Especially ordered books about dyslexia to serve as resources for parents are now available at Readers Bookshop.
