Prime Minister, Omar Razzaz, met with presidents of professional associations on Sunday, October 20, 2019, at the Prime Ministry headquarter. 

During the meeting, Razzaz stressed the importance of governmental partnerships with professional associations to establish norms based on dialogue and cooperation to promote the national interest.

Razzaz emphasized the importance of continuing the dialogue that started between the professional associations and various ministries and government institutions, in order to address the imbalances that affect some sectors and professions and the public sector as a whole.

He pointed out to the need of reaching a consensus formula for the civil service system, which contributes to the development of the public sector and improves the quality of services provided to citizens, as well as to contribute to overcoming any imbalances, which is not a problem limited to a specific sector or association.

In this regard, Razzaz added that the group, which includes representatives of the government and professional associations, agrees that the "distortions" in the civil service system, in its various categories and degrees, should be reviewed.

He underscored that the stated goal is to raise the standards of living for all and work to improve the performance of the various employees and professionals, and link performance with incentives and technical allowances, in a way that reflects on the level of work and staff capabilities and the quality of services provided to citizens.

He pointed out that His Majesty King Abdullah II has always been calling for the need to improve the services provided to citizens, and to address the imbalances suffered by the public sector in a systematic manner and on the basis of justice.

The prime minister said that the public sector represents 40% of the workforce in Jordan and provides services to citizens, stressing that the government seeks to improve the standards of living of public sector employees.

He also stressed that Jordan will remain a role model in dealing with challenges and crises and establishing the norms of dialogue based on professionalism and national interest.

In turn, head of the professional associations, Dr. Zeid Al Kilani, expressed the appreciation of professional associations for the government's efforts in conducting dialogue on constructive grounds with a view to laying clear grounds for reaching comprehensive solutions to the problems and challenges, thus improving the living conditions of public sector workers.
