The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates denied on Wednesday, October 16, 2019, reports released by Israeli media that Jordan has approved to renew or extend the 25-year lease to Israel over the Jordanian area of Al Ghamr, south of Jordan.

The Ministry's spokesman, Sufian Qudah, confirmed that Jordan's decision taken on October 12, 2018, to end Al-Baqoura and Al-Ghamr annexation from the peace agreement is final and definitive, noting that by the end of the two special regulations on November 10, 2019, as stipulated in the peace treaty with Israel, there will be no renewal or extension.

The Israeli occupation had earlier asked for consultations as stipulated in the treaty, Qudah said, adding that "Jordan initiated consultations on ending the lease the lease, in order to move from the previous stage and arrangements to the next stage."
