Nasser Al-Nawasrah, Deputy Head of the Jordanian Teachers Syndicate has announced a mass strike starting Sunday, September 8, 2019.
Nawasra said that the decision came after the government refused to open the road leading to the 4th circle in order for them to perform "Salat Al-Gha’ib" (Absentee Funeral Prayer) or the Head of the Syndicate, Ahmad Hajaya, who died in a road accident earlier last week.
Earlier, Nawasrah had warned that if the government does not open the road near the 4th circle within 30 minutes, teachers in all schools in the Kingdom will begin a mass strike.
The Syndicate had also announced on its Facebook official page that 18 teachers were arrested at security centers following the peaceful protests that took place today.
It added that police refused to release the detainees on bail.
