The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates condemned on Thursday, August 29, 2019, Honduras over its decision to open a diplomatic mission in Jerusalem, and the Republic of Nauru, which recently recognized Jerusalem as Israel's capital.

Spokesman for the Ministry, Sufian Qudah, said the decisions are blatant violation of the international law and UN Security Council resolutions 476, 478, 2334, which all affirm that East Jerusalem is an occupied territory and that any decisions or actions aimed at changing the status in Jerusalem, or its demographic composition are null and void and have no legal effect.

Qudah called on the international community to uphold its legal, political and ethical responsibilities in preserving Jerusalem's status quo in accordance with the two-state solution, the international legitimacy resolutions, and the Arab Peace Initiative.
