At 6:30 am, an explosion has taken place on Wednesday morning, August 28, 2019, inside a restaurant in Rainbow street in Amman as a result of a gas leak, spokesman for the Civil Defense Directorate (CDD) Eyad Al Amro said in a statement.

The gas cylinder blast caused the restaurant to be fully damaged. It also caused damage to the nearby shops.

One police officer was wounded in the huge blast, where he suffered minor injuries and bruises.

The injured was provided with the necessary first aid and was taken to King Hussein Medical Center.

Al Amro added that members of the Public Security Directorate (PSD) and traffic police officers were at the site to organize traffic movement. In addition, cadres of the Greater Amman Municipality (GAM) were there to remove the debris from around the blast site.
