The Central Bank of Jordan (CBJ) announced that it will offer 12 annual scholarships for outstanding high school students, who scored an average of more than 95 % in the General Secondary Education Certificate Examination (Tawjihi).

The scholarships will be distributed equally all over the governorates, where students can obtain a bachelor's degree in economics specializations starting from the first semester 2019/2020, provided that they would work in the CBJ after graduation.

The initiative aims at creating a distinguished generation of economists in the Kingdom to contribute in the future in formulating economic policies to meet challenges and develop the national economy, CBJ Governor Ziad Fariz said in a press statement.

Fariz added that this new initiative doesn't only include university fees and allowances, but also practical training on economic concepts and aspects at the CBJ and other economic institutions, as well as a range of skills to qualify students in a comprehensive manner.

He explained that conditions of benefiting from the initiative took into account the scientific and intellectual excellence and the distribution of opportunities to all governorates of the Kingdom.

The CBJ published scholarships' terms and conditions on its official website www.cbj.gov.jo, noting that the deadline for receiving applications is Sunday, corresponding to the 25th of August.
