Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Hala Zawati, briefed on Wednesday, July 24, 2019, the South African Ambassador to Jordan, Ebrahim Sallie, on investment opportunities in the mining sector in Jordan.

During the meeting, Zawati reviewed areas and means of cooperation with South Africa and investment opportunities, particularly in the field of mineral resources, exploration, and legislation.

Zawati stressed the possibility of cooperating in the renewable energy field and harnessing Jordan's experience, which currently contributes about 11% of electricity generated in the Kingdom compared to 1% in 2014.

She highlighted Jordan's pioneering experience in covering 99% of the Kingdom's population with the electricity grid and reviewed the successes made by the Ministry, through the "Fils Al Reef" project to supply electric power to the Kingdom's communities.

Zawati also welcomed cooperation with South Africa in the energy sector.
