MP Khalil Attieh had called on the government to investigate the death of Jordanian university student, Yousef Abu Ziadeh in an accident in Cyprus.

"Like all Jordanians, I was shocked when I heard about the Jordanian university student Yousef Abu Ziadeh's death in Cyprus. He was a creative student and about to graduate from university."

Attieh also asked the government to establish an office for Jordanians' affairs in Cyprus due to the increased number of Jordanian students who study there.

Later, the Jordanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates confirmed in a statement on Tuesday, July 23, 2019, that the deceased student in Cyprus is not Jordanian and does not hold a Jordanian passport.

The statement added that several people questioned whether the deceased is Jordanian, yet it reaffirmed that he is not.
