Director of the health department at the Municipality of Mafraq, Khaled Shalabi said that the department had seized 11 tons of Hummus that were not suitable for human consumption, as they were found thrown on the ground of a factory and destroyed.

Shalabi explained that the factory is not licensed and lacks the most basic requirements of public health and safety conditions.

However, in cooperation with the Royal Department for Environmental Protection, the staff of the department seized an unlicensed confectionary factory which violates the conditions of public health and safety.

"The efforts of the health department cadres, in coordination with the concerned authorities, intensify the field supervision to maintain public health and safety because we are always keen to prevent the selling of goods or food that are not suitable for human consumption," said the Mafraq Mayor, Amer Nayel al-Daghmi.

Al-Daghmi pointed out that all legal procedures will be taken against those factories and will be within the instructions set in this regard.
