The Grand Mufti of Jordan, Mohammad Khalaileh, has called on people all across the country to participate in the sighting of the new crescent moon (hilal) of Shawwal on Monday, June 3, 2019, at King Hussein Bin Talal Mosque.

Monday will mark the 29th and the final day of the fasting month of Ramadan if the crescent is seen, ushering the beginning of Shawwal, the 10th month of the lunar calendar, and the three-day Eid Al Fitr.

Muslims declare the start and the end of the fasting month of Ramadan in accordance to the new moon, which is spotted at sunset of the preceding day.
