Speaker of the House of Representatives and Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union, Atef Tarawneh called on Arab and international parliaments to take urgent measures in cooperation with their governments to end the Israeli aggression on Palestinians.

Tarawneh said in a statement issued by the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union on Monday, May 6, 2019, that the Israeli brutal aggression against the innocent people of Gaza comes in light of the United States' bias towards the Israeli occupation authorities, which raises the question why this assault took place at this time prior to announcing the details of the alleged peace plan or the so-called "Deal of the Century."

Tarawneh added that the hard times that the Palestinian cause is going through require pushing for inter-Palestinian reconciliation and pooling efforts to set the wheel in motion for the two-state solution to restore Palestinian rights in setting an independent Palestinian state.

"The current situation in Palestine also requires the international community's solidarity against the Israeli malpractices that carry out cleansing, killing and destruction," Tarawneh further added.

Tarawneh stressed the Arab Parliamentary Union solidarity with the Palestinian people, calling for the Palestinian unity to confront the ambitions of the occupation, and thwart all conspiracies aimed at confiscating the Palestinian right.
