A fire has broke out on early Friday, May 3, 2019, inside a house in a five-storey building in Irbid governorate, according to a source at the Civil Defense Directorate (CDD).

Six children of the same family have died, while three other children were injured, according to a statement issued by the Directorate General of the CDD.

The statement added that the father, mother and their neighbor have suffered suffocation.

The Media Department of the CDD added that firefighters were able to extinguish the fire and prevent it from spreading to other nearby buildings, while the ambulance teams were able to provide the necessary first aid for the injured.

The health conditions of the three injured children were described as critical; however, the health conditions of the father, mother and neighbor were described as stable. 

The injured and the deceased have been transferred to Princess Basma Hospital.

The Media Department pointed out that a special committee was formed to find out the cause of the fire.
