The Cabinet was introduced to the National Strategy of the Jordanian Reform and Rehabilitation centers that goes with the directives of His Majesty King Abdullah II, aiming at improving these centers and deepening the culture of human rights respect.

In line with international standards, the inmates will be taught a vocational profession that will help them gain a fresh start.

The strategy aims at developing an integrated response to the overcrowding problem in reform and rehabilitation centers in order to improve the rehabilitative environment, care, and services provided to the inmates.

It also aims at establishing rehabilitative programs that require inmates’ involvement in these programs, modify inmates’ behavior and equip them with a profession that would ease their integration with the society when they are released.

The National Strategy includes strengthening the legislative framework, administrative decisions, the instructions, and development of institutional framework by raising the administrative readiness of the centers.

Moreover, it supports the capacities of their workers, develops health care services, enhances the rehabilitative environment of the centers, strengthens the rehabilitation program within the centers, and strengthens reintegration programs in society.

The National strategy was presented by the Director of the Public Security Directorate (PSD) Maj. Gen. Fadel Hmoud, PSD Assistant Director for Judiciary Mohammad Tubaishat, and the Director of Reform and Rehabilitation centers Ayman Awayshe.
