Thai police have arrested a Jordanian man who confessed to killing his one-year-old baby boy by strapping him into a stroller and pushing him into the Gulf of Thailand, Head of Thailand's Immigration Authority said on Tuesday, March 12, 2019.

The incident occurred in the seaside town of Pattaya, where the 52-year-old Wael Nabil Salman Zureikat was spending a vacation with his wife and his one-year-old son.

Zureikat was arrested after fishermen found the baby's body in Pattaya's main port.

"Last night, he confessed that he tied his son to the stroller and pushed it into the sea," Head of the Immigration Authority, Surachate Hakparn said during a press conference on Tuesday.

Zureikat's wife filed a complaint to the Authorities, which led to the man's arrest.

"Zureikat said he could not raise the boy and did not want to have children," Hakparn said, adding that it is a heartbreaking story.

The accused will be charged under Section 289 of Thailand's penal code for "intentional killing" of a child, and if he was found guilty, he will be sentenced to death penalty.
