According to Al-Ra’i newspaper, the government hired an infrastructure contractor as a neutral entity, to assess all the details, reasons and circumstances surrounding the recent floods which resulted in severe damage to traders and citizens, especially in the center of the capital, Downtown.

The company will prepare a detailed technical report by conducting a wide examination of the infrastructure to determine whether there was any negligence or lack in preparations made prior to the weather depression, the source told the newspaper.

The government is very serious and committed to holding accountable any party proven of failing to carry out the duties and responsibilities entrusted to it, the source added.

A government committee has been formed to monitor the work of the contractor company and will be providing all necessary means in order for it to complete its mission.

The company will present two reports: the first of which will come during the week, regarding how the institutions and agencies concerned dealt with the depression, while the second report will take between four to six weeks in order to determine the adequacy of the infrastructure and its preparedness to receive the amount of rainfall that fell on Amman.
