Israel has issued an order to ban Chairman of Awqaf Council in Jerusalem, Sheikh Abdul-Azim Salhab, from Al-Aqsa Mosque for 40 days, according to Palestinian media and the Department of Awqaf.

Israel authorities had arrested Sheikh Abdul-Azim Salhab last week for his role in the reopening of Bab al-Rahma building inside Al-Aqsa Mosque, which has been closed down since 2003; however, Jordanian efforts succeeded in releasing him a few hours after his arrest.

On Sunday morning, Israeli authorities renewed orders to expel the Jerusalemites from Al-Aqsa after dozens of settlers stormed the mosque.
