The Ministry of Labor announced on Thursday, February 21, 2019, that about 3,300 jobs are now available in various sectors of the 27 directorates and operating offices in the Kingdom.

These jobs match the private sector's needs and are spread across all Jordanian governorates, the media spokesman for the Ministry, Mohammad Al Khateeb, said.

Al Khateeb urged young job seekers to head to the directorates and employment offices to familiarize themselves with the available job opportunities.

The number of opportunities currently available is as follows:

217 opportunities in Aqaba, 122 in Ma'an, 624 in Irbid, 254 in Ajloun, 100 in Karak, 205 in Tafila, 42 in Balqa, 92 in Mafraq, 660 in Zarqa, 636 in Amman, 280 in Jerash and 62 in Madaba.

However, Al Khateeb said that the Ministry, in coordination with the National Framework for Empowerment and Employment, has already provided job opportunities for about 2,000 job seekers from the beginning of 2019 within this framework, which aims at offering 30 jobs for youth within 2019 in a number of sectors such as tourism , services, industry, construction, health, communications and agriculture.

The program aims at providing job opportunities for Jordanians, reducing unemployment rates, especially in overcrowded career fields, mechanizing some professions, attracting national labor, increasing women's participation in the labor market, expanding employment programs in partnership with the private sector and related parties, and encouraging entrepreneurship and supporting the business environment.

The program is based on training and qualifying Jordanians at workplaces in the economic sectors that take priority and according to labor market requirements or vocational training and in partnership with the private sector and strategic partners which support the labor sector, Al-Khateeb explained.

Almost 2,000 male and female youth have been employed since the beginning of 2019 and they are distributed as follows:

100 job opportunities in the tourism sector, 50 in the industrial sector, 213 in construction, 32 in the service sector, 567 in the health sector, 389 in the communications sector, 20 in the agricultural sector, 200 in the productive branches, 50 in the vocational training sector, 80 in entrepreneurship and 300 in the national employment system, which refers to the Ministry of Labor.

Al Khateeb called on the Jordanian youth to benefit from the training and operational programs provided by the Ministry such as "Khedmet Watan" program, which serves the national economy with qualified young cadres, to enter the labor market.

"Khedmet Watan" also seeks to make the labor market requirements equal to youth requirements.

The Ministry of Labor announced the first batch of "Khedemt Watan" participants in various governorates, which is estimated at 3000 youth, including 500 females. These participants will be enrolled in the program in early March 2019.

The job opportunities are still available to all to benefit from the National Framework for Empowerment and Employment, which will provide 30 jobs for youth in a number of sectors such as tourism, services, industry, construction, health, communications, and agriculture.
