Jordan's Civil Defense Directorate (CDD) received the ‘Friends of Animals Award’ from the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals Organization (PETA) for their work beyond the call of duty to save the lives of animals, whether by helping rescuing cats and dogs trapped in street tunnels, rescuing puppies raided by floods, saving cats that got their heads stuck in food cans and helping cats that got stuck after climbing trees and buildings. The CDD was always there to help animals in need.

”Thanks to the heroic and compassionate work of the Civil Defense Directorate in Jordan, animals facing death were rescued," said the Vice president of international campaigns for PETA-Asia, Jason Baker. "We hope that the courage, compassion and benevolence offered by the Directorate in all rescue operations will serve as a model for the community throughout Jordan."
