Palestinian Prime Minister Rami al-Hamdallah announced that his government has submitted its resignation to the Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, adding that it continues to carry out its duties and assuming all its responsibilities until a new government is formed.

During a weekly cabinet session on Tuesday, al-Hamdallah said he hoped the consultations would succeed in forming a new government as soon as possible.

The Palestinian Prime Minister stressed that the success of any government in carrying out the tasks entrusted to it calls for the trust of the Palestinian citizen in his government which calls for a national effort.

It is noteworthy that the government of Hamadullah was formed in June 2014.
