Fares are set to increase across public transport in Jordan this month, as part of a step taken annually by the Land Transport Regulatory Commission (LTRC).

Anmar al-Khasawneh, Head of the LTRC, said in a statement that a specialist committee is currently studying the factors that will determine the percentage of increase, such as fuel prices and vehicle running costs.

Once the committee has completed its research and assessment, their final report will be sent off to the LTRC Board of Directors, which will determine the new rates.

In 2018, public transport fares increased by 10%, but with the current economic climate, how much the LTRC will increase the fares by is anyone’s guess.
