Christians celebrate the lighting of a Christmas tree in Manger Square, outside the Church of the Nativity in the West Bank town of Bethlehem, Dec. 1,

Palestinian Prime Minister, Rami Hamdallah, on Saturday night, December 1, 2018, lit the Christmas tree in the Manger Square outisde of the Church of the Nativity, in the southern West Bank city of Bethlehem, marking the start of Christmas celebrations.

Thousands attended the ceremony, which included fireworks and music and opera from Matla, and a performance by Romanian group.
