Warning: Impending flooding of Dam in Madaba

Wala Dam in Madaba has began to flood by more than 120 cubic meter per second, according to Ministry of Water and Irrigation spokesman, Omar Salameh, November 9, 2018.

The Ministry warns citizens in areas close to the Wala Valley to keep away from the area as huge influxes of rain are feeding the dam, exceeding 200 cubic meters per second.

The dam is expected to reach its full capacity of 9.3 million cubic meters during the next few hours; and the valley itself is filling up with rainwater.

The Ministry warns of the impending major dam flooding and is appealing to everyone to move away from the area. The dam is located north of the ancient King’s Highway leading to Thiban.
