A young man has threatened to throw himself off Abdoun Bridge in Amman on Thursday, November 8.

Eyewitnesses said that the man took off his clothes and threatened to commit suicide, while security forces tried to reason with him.

A security source told Roya that the man is in his twenties, adding that police officers succeeded in preventing him from ending his life.

In such cases, the person is usually detained and questioned, before they’re referred to a psychiatrist. However, many of those who have attempted to jump off the bridge in the past have said that they did it out of desperation, due to their extremely difficult living conditions.

Abdoun Bridge is synonymous with suicide because of the dozens of people who ended their lives by jumping off the famous Amman landmark.
