The Dead Sea Fashion Week (DSFW), has been postponed until next year, after it was supposed to be held on November 16-17, 2018.

The DSFW posted a statement on Facebook explaining the reasons behind this decision, and offered its condolences to the families who were struck by the Dead Sea Tragedy, which occurred on October 25.

“Due to the painful circumstances our homeland has endured of the unfortunate events that took place in the Dead Sea in which we have lost lives dear to us all, the DSFW decided to postpone the event until March of next year, after originally being scheduled in November.

This postponement symbolizes the embodiment of the national and humanitarian goals we adopt at the DSFW, and the involvement of all Jordanians in this tragic event. As DSFW is a celebration of all that is beautiful, and there is nothing more beautiful than humans feeling with each other, sharing joys and sorrows alike, we as a part of this beloved country cannot have the show go on under these circumstances.

Because the DSFW is a platform that carries many national and humanitarian messages, and as the DSFW provides support to tourism in Jordan; part of the DSFW’s national responsibility is for the timing to be appropriate to successfully gain the support of all Jordanians, and achieve the results deserved for its important national role, and alongside its humanitarian role.

We at the DSFW offer our condolences to the families of the victims, wishing the Almighty to grant them the greatest mercy. And we extend our sincere thanks and appreciation to all Jordanians, as these tragic circumstances have proved that we are as one hand, and that those who have left us are our children, and that humanity is the highest of all feelings.”

The Dead Sea Fashion Week, is Jordan’s official ‘fashion week’, run by a non-profit organization, and held annually at the Dead Sea’s King Hussein Bin Talal Convention Center.

The DSFW is a country-wide celebration of talent, creativity and diversity, aiming to combine the worlds of fashion, art, music and culture, in a series of fashion events by designers from the heart of Jordan.

The DSFW aims are to strengthen the influence of local fashion and to attract global interest.
