Greater Amman Municipality (GAM) stated on Tuesday, November 6, 2018, that the apparent crack seen on the Nahda bridge is the expansion joint laid bare, and is not a crack in the bridge.

GAM explained that the visible expansion joint was covered with a metal sheet, for aesthetic purposes only and not for any structural or functional purpose, and that it was blown away by the wind and will be reinstalled, as soon as possible.

GAM added that the bridge is newly built, with excellent specifications and high standards, and was opened in June 2016.
