An unusually large cyst was successfully removed from the right lung of a 10-year-old girl in Irbid.

The cyst weighed 1kg, which Dr. Mohammed Bin Yassin from Princess Basma Hospital, where the critical surgery took place, said was “relatively large, especially for a child this young.”

The surgeon noted that this type of surgery is commonplace at his workplace, however, “this is the first time that we see a cyst of this size.”

Dr. Yassin said that the girl is now in good health and has been discharged from the hospital.

The patient had been suffering from breathing difficulties prior to her surgery, without realizing that the cyst was covering more than half of her right lung.
