UAE Minister of State for Food Security meets Razzaz, attends first Dates Festival

Jordanian Prime Minister, Omar Razzaz, received UAE Minister of State for Future Food Security, Mariam Bint Mohammed Al Mehairi, on Sunday, October 21, 2018. The two discussed several issues of concern to both countries; Jordan and UAE.

Al Mehairi is visiting the Kingdom to attend the First International Festival of Jordanian Dates, which is organized by Khalifa International Award for Date Palm and Agricultural Innovation and the Jordanian Ministry of Agriculture as well as the Jordan Dates Association (JODA).

During their meeting, the two discussed further coordination in order to boost agriculture production as well as expand exporting opportunities both in the regional and international markets.

Razzaz pointed out that the sudden changes in the regional climate requires an extensive research that would come up with new and creative ideas in order to successfully establish more productive farms. He stressed that Jordan has skilled and reliable expertise in the agricultural sector who managed to deliver Jordanian products to the international markets.

The First International Festival of Jordanian Dates 2018 was launched with the participation of many international organizations including Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), the Jordanian Ministry of Agriculture, the International Center for Agricultural Research in the Dry Areas (ICARDA), the Arab Organization for Agricultural Development (AOAD), Date Palm Global Network (DPNG), the Date Palm Friends Society of the UAE (DFS).
