Abbas meets Zawati, discusses energy coordination

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and Jordanian Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Hala Zawati, met at the presidential headquarters in the West Bank city of Ramallah on Saturday, October 20, 2018.

The meeting discussed the latest developments in the Palestinian-Jordanian energy agreement along with the plan of increasing energy-supply from Jordan towards the city of Jericho.

President Abbas expressed his content of the project’s progress which is signed to develop energy in both countries. Abbas stressed that exchanging expertise and coordination between the Palestinian and Jordanian sides are very important.

General Manager of the National Electric Power Company in Jordan (NEPCO), Amjad Rawashdeh, and Jordanian representative to Palestine, Mohammed Abu Wandi, have also attended the meeting.

From the Palestinian side, attendees included Secretary-General of Palestinian Presidency, Tayeb Abdul Rahim, Deputy Prime Minister of the Palestinian Authority, Ziad Abu Amr, Presidency Advisor for Diplomatic Affairs and International Relations to President Abbas, Majdi Khaldi, and Chairman of the Palestinian Energy and Natural Resources Authority (PENRA), Eng. Zafer Melhem, Director of Jerusalem District Electricity Co (JDECo), Hisham Al-Umari, and members of Central Committee of Fatah, Mohammad Shtayyeh and Azzam Al-Ahmad.
