A Royal Decree approved the Cabinet’s Resolution No. (1230), adopted on September 29, 2018, approving the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan playing host country to (MSF) Médecins Sans Frontières, Doctors Without Borders, in an agreement between the Government and MSF, signed in Amman, on July, 9, 2018.

According to the Jordanian Prime Ministry’s “Official Newspaper”, the text of the agreement between the government and the MSF, reads as follows:

"The MSF, is an international humanitarian medical non-governmental organisation (NGO), working in the field of humanitarian assistance, in accordance with Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) (As more specifically defined in Appendix 1), is recognized for its effective support in the efforts made in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, since 2009; in promoting and organizing a wide range of humanitarian and medical services in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, including: reconstructive surgery, rehabilitation and treating the war-wounded, responding to emergency, birth and maternal health, neonatal intensive care, non-communicable diseases, and social psychosocial care. All MSF staff working in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, have agreed to work together in a coordination office, to continue further with its humanitarian and medical work in an efficient manner, to meet the needs of the population ".

Doctors Without Borders (MSF) first began working in Jordan in 2006, in response to the medical needs of Iraqi refugees. Since then, the Syrian war brought around 650,000 more refugees.

In 2017, MSF conducted 67,600 outpatient consultation, 8,300 individual mental health consultations, and 2,200 major surgical interventions.

MSF is an international humanitarian medical organization that provides high-quality medical care to people affected by crises regardless of race, religion or political affiliation. Every day, more than 27 thousand MSF field staff worldwide provide assistance to people affected by violence, neglect or crisis, mainly due to armed conflict, epidemics, malnutrition, denial of health care or natural disasters.
