At least five Palestinian men were injured late Sunday night when dozens of Israeli settlers attacked their homes and shops, the Palestinian news agency WAFA reported.

The incident took place in al-Masara neighborhood near Damascus Gate and in Bab al-Wad area, where the settlers smashed dozens of cars, vandalized shops and attacked houses.

Israeli police forces were extensively deployed at the scene, but did not attempt to stop the settlers from carrying out their attacks. Instead, they let loose gas bombs and deafening “sound bombs” to prevent Palestinians from defending themselves.

Meanwhile in Ramallah in the West Bank, violent clashes ensued between two young Palestinian men and Israeli forces.

The clashes took place after a large number of Israeli soldiers raided the city centre and surrounded entire residential neighbourhoods.

Local media reported that one Palestinian youth and one photojournalist were injured by live bullets, while dozens of Palestinians suffocated from inhaling tear-gas canisters.
