Khan Al-Ahmar evacuation deadline ends today

The deadline set by the Israeli Occupation authorities to evacuate Khan Al-Ahmar and displace those who reside in it ends today, September 12, 2018.

Earlier, Occupation Forces tightened the siege on the area, checked the identities of all who crossed through, and prevented a number of activists and residents from entering.

Dozens of Arab Bedouin families from the Jahalin tribe, who were deported by the occupation authorities from their lands in the Negev in the 1950s, live in Khan Al-Ahmar. Residents have recently signed a petition against their eviction, displacement and demolition of their homes, however the petition was rejected by the Israeli Supreme Court.

In July 2018, activists formed a human chain to prevent three large bulldozers from destroying homes of the village. Many were arrested during the protest.

Israel considers the areas of Khan Al-Ahmar, which descends from Jerusalem to Jericho, as part of their occupied-state lands.
