Safadi, Lavrov stress voluntary return of Syrian refugees

Jordanian Minister of Foreign and Expatriates Affairs, Ayman Safadi, along with Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, Sergey Lavrov, discussed the latest developments in the region by phone, on Sunday, September 9, 2018.

The conversation stressed on the efforts exerted in order to implement a political solution that would end the Syrian crisis, as well as the cooperation between the two countries in order to comply with the United Nations Security Council Resolution 2254 - a resolution which guarantees the unity, independence and sovereignty of Syria.

They also reviewed the latest developments in the refugee issue, emphasizing the importance of securing the voluntary repatriation of Syrian refugees back to their homes.

Safadi and Lavrov discussed developments in the plan directed at overcoming the deadlock in the Palestinian conflict and the process towards a peace plan, which should move in the direction of establishing a two-state solution.
