Thousands of people joined Jordanian journalist Saad Silawi’shis family, friends and relatives in laying him to rest on Sunday evening in Na’our, Amman.

The veteran media personality passed away at the age of 55 on Saturday, September 1, 2018, in Beirut, after a long battle with cancer.

Silawi’s body was flown in to Jordan from Lebanon on Sunday morning; the Jordanian government covered the trip’s expenses.

Silawi was the director of Alarabiya News Agency in Amman since its founding until he was diagnosed with Laryngeal cancer in 2012. A year after, he underwent larynx-removal surgery. Silawi has been bravely fighting the disease since then.

For many years, Silawi served as a local and regional media correspondent and successfully covered various important and sensitive reports. He is considered one of the best reporters in the history of Jordan.
