A recent study conducted by the Jordan Pharmacists Association (JPhA) has shown that 20% of its members who joined in 2010 are currently unemployed.

Female pharmacists made up 74% of the study and their male equivalents made up 26% of the study.

According to the findings, 23% of pharmacists without a job are female and 10% are male.

Zeid Kilani, President of the JPhA said that the study aims at finding a solution to the problem facing pharmacists in the job market.

Dr. Kilani urged Tawjihi students to think twice before they consider studying Pharmacy at university, due to the large number of current Jordanian Pharmacy students in the Kingdom and abroad.

The JPhA seeks to recruit pharmacists in the Ministry of Health and find job opportunities for pharmacists inside and outside Jordan, according to Dr. Kilani, who added that these efforts are made more difficult by the difficult reality of the labor market.
