Jordanian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Ayman Safadi, spoke with Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sameh Shoukry, over the phone, Jordan News Agency Petra reported on Thursday, August 23, 2018.

The two ministers discussed a range of issues including the latest developments concerning the peace process in the region. Safadi briefed Shoukry on his recent meeting with US officials in Washington and on the ways to advance the peace process and presume the Palestinian-Israeli negotiations.

The phone call also addressed UNRWA’s current funding crisis.  Safadi and Shoukry agreed on the importance of enhancing their joint action to help UNRWA face its challenges as well as on finding ways of cooperation between Jordan and Egypt in order to provide what's necessary to support UNRWA in continuing its work for Palestinian refugees in the region.

Safadi and Shoukry agreed to continue their consultations and coordination during the coming period as well as exchange views on a number of mutual concerns and regional issues.
