Israel’s naval forces arrested five Palestinian fishermen who were sailing off Gaza’s northern shores on Sunday morning, according to the Palestinian committee that documents Israeli violations against local fishermen.

According to the Committee, ships belonging to the Israeli Navy surrounded a fishing boat within a three-mile vicinity, while shooting missiles and firing live bullets at it.

After seizing the boat, the fishermen were detained and taken to an unknown location.

According to the Palestinian Center for Human Rights (PCHR), Israeli attacks on Palestinian fishing boats reportedly take place on a daily basis, and within the allowed (for Gazan fishermen) distance of six nautical miles from the shore, which indicates that Israel is trying to restrict the distance Gazans are allowed to fish in.
