Colombian President, Juan Manuel Santo, issued an official letter in which he states that State of Palestine is now officially recognized by Colombia.

The Presidential decision comes just days before the newly-elected President, Ivan Duque, takes office and replaces Santo, who is about to finish his office terms in a couple of days.

The diplomatic Palestinian envoy in Colombia has been trying for years to make Colombia join the rest of South American countries that already recognize the State of Palestine.
