You might not have spotted the new uniforms traffic police officers are sporting on the streets of Jordan these days, but they’ve had a minor makeover to provide extra protection for the men and women who protect drivers’ lives on a daily basis.

The Public Security Directorate (PSD) altered the uniforms to make their material lighter, allowing the officers to move around more easily and protect them from the scorching summer heat.

Extra protection was also provided through the use of brand new vests, which have a higher light-reflecting power than their old counterparts, to allow cars to spot the officers from afar during night hours.
