Minister of Interior, Sameer Al Mobaideen, announced in a press conference on Sunday that 11 of the services provided by Ministry of Interior can now be obtained electronically.

Mobaideen affirmed that this phase is very crucial in improving the process through which the government provides services.

The move comes as part of the Digital Jordan 2020 initiative, which attaches great importance to e-governance.

The services also come as part of the government's plan in the e-transformation program aimed at simplifying procedures for the recipients of the service, controlling and rationalizing government expenditures, encouraging tourism and facilitating entry into the Kingdom.

The meeting was attended by the Ombudsman of Amman and the Director of IT at the Ministry of Interior. The latter disclosed that since the morning, at least 40 applications were submitted since that morning.

Most of the services pertain to foreigners such as obtaining visas and residencies, while requests such as emergency travel documents and transfer of residence benefit citizens. The platform can be accessed here.
