US President Donald Trump's Middle East envoy Jason Greenblatt and White House Senior Adviser Jared Kushner are scheduled to visit Jordan and Qatar as part of their Middle East trip next week.
The trip, which was initially set to include Egypt, Saudi Arabia and Israel, will reportedly be discussing the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.

Kushner and Greenblatt plan on presenting Trump’s new peace plan to the regional leaders as well as discussing ideas to resolve the current crisis in Gaza.

As reported on June 16, 2018, a senior administration official told ‘Times of Israel’ that this is an opportunity to “discuss the situation in Gaza and to discuss the next stages of the peace efforts, as well as to get some ideas from players in the region about some remaining questions the White House peace team has.”

This comes at a time of highly disturbed relations between the US administration and the Palestinian Authority (PA) after Washington’s decision to move its embassy to Jerusalem. Despite that no meetings have been scheduled with any of PA’s representatives, an unnamed US official told Channel 10 of Israel that Kushner and Greenblatt are open to meetings if a mutual willingness exists.

The date of the US peace envoys’ visit to Jordan is still unclear but is expected to be around the time of their visit to Israel – which is on Friday, June 22, 2018.
