King Abdullah visited the Amir of Kuwait

King Abdullah II, made a fraternal visit to Kuwait on Tuesday for talks with Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, Emir of Kuwait, covering the deep-rooted bilateral ties and current regional developments.

The King was accompanied by a high-level delegation that included foreign minister in charge, Ayman Safadi and head of Jordan Armed Forces, Mahmoud Abdel Halim Freihat.

The visit comes two days after Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and the UAE offered USD 2.5 billion in aid to help Jordan overcome its economic crisis.

During the cordial talks at the Dasman Palace, the two leaders voiced their pride in the outstanding relations between Jordan and Kuwait and their interest in broadening the basis of mutual cooperation, particularly in the economic and commercial fields. They also discussed ways of increasing the volume of Kuwaiti investments in the Kingdom in a number of vital sectors.

They also emphasized on the importance of maintaining coordination and consultation on various regional issues and challenges, thereby contributing to the interests of the Arab nation and serving its just causes.

The talks also addressed current developments on the regional scene, stressing on the need to find political solutions to the crises, finding ways to combat terrorism, within a holistic approach.

Amir of Kuwait, for his part, expressed his deep appreciation for the honourable stances of Jordan, led by His Majesty, in standing alongside his Arab brothers. He also praised the His Majesty’s important role in the service of Arab issues, the strengthening of the Arab ties, and his continued efforts to achieve security and stability in the region.

After the meeting the two delegations enjoyed an Iftar, the meal with which the Ramadan fast is broken, after which King Abdullah headed to Bahrain. In Manama he paid condolences over the passing away of Sheikha Hala bint Duaij Al Khalifa, wife of Crown Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa.
