When we were kids, we couldn’t wait to celebrate Eid. We eagerly looked forward to receiving our precious “eideyyeh” (money given to children for Eid), buying new clothes, indulging in big family meals and having a legitimate excuse to eat handfuls of sweets and Eid cookies (ma3mool).
Once we grew up, that was no longer the case. As adults, there are so many things we crave during Eid, and ma3mool is just not one of them.
1. Stay in bed

Bed, sweet bed. It’s called Eid BREAK for a reason, and when you’re on a break, nap time should always be a priority.
2. Breakfast in bed

Speaking of beds, wouldn’t it be lovely to have someone serve you a delicious breakfast in bed while you watch your fave show on your laptop?
3. Stay indoors

At least for the first few hours of the day, instead of having to rush out to visit the relatives you know and the ones whose names you’ve forgotten. That can wait until Eid Day 2, can’t it?
4. Remember me?

If someone visits you at 10 am, why must you return the visit 30 minutes later? #GiveItTimeToMissEachOther
5. Up, up and away
Via House Beautiful
If only we could afford to spend Eid in Europe, Asia or anywhere different and exciting. However, with the ridiculously expensive plane ticket prices, that thought usually remains as wishful thinking.
6. Eideyyeh for adults

Speaking of money, why is it only kids who get an eideyyeh? Surely we need it more than they do. We have to pay for all the ma3mool, clothes, food and outings during the three-day holiday, after all.
7. No work day

If you work in media, medicine, aviation and certain other sectors, you can kiss your Eid break goodbye. The dream? To be able to take the same days off as our family and friends and not worry about having to wake up early the next day and miss out on all the fun activities.
