The United Nations General Assembly will hold an urgent meeting on Wednesday at the request of Arab members to discuss the recent deadly confrontations in Gaza, according to the Head of the General Assembly Miroslav Lajčák.

Diplomats said that during the session, which will begin at 7 pm GMT, member countries will vote on a resolution draft that condemns the Israeli attacks in Gaza, following the resolution draft that was vetoed by the US earlier last week.

More than 120 Palestinians were killed, including two journalists and a paramedic, and thousands more were injured by Israeli fire during the demonstrations near the Gaza border fence since they started on 30 March.
