Jordanian Prime Minister Omar Razzaz said in a statement on Thursday that his government will rescind the controversial Income Tax Bill (ITB) after the new government has been sworn in.

Jordanian professional associations staged a nationwide strike last Wednesday, which launched a week of protests that were dominant in Amman’s Fourth Circle.

The newly designated PM was tasked with forming a new government on Tuesday, a day after PM Hani Al Mulki’s resignation.

Razzaz has yet to announce his choices for Cabinet members, but said on Thursday that the direction the new government will take will be based on the conversations and mutual dialogue between them and civil society institutions, and according to the directives of His Majesty King Abdullah II.
