The traffic above the Sahaba tunnel, located on the Queen Alia Airport road, was resumed after the Minister of Public Works and Housing, Sami Halaseh, concluded the first phase of the construction of the intersection on Saturday.

The project started in Sept. 2017 and according to the minister the implementation period was extended in order to accommodate a lane for the bus rapid transit, which is in the municipality’s long term plans for the site.

Halaseh stated that the the next phase of the three million dinar project included the connection of the roads leading from Abdoun, Sahaba and Nakheel neighbourhoods.

He disclosed that in the upcoming days the government would issue public tenders regarding the intersections of Marj Al Hamam, Irsal and Khrebet Al Souq which are financed by a $65 million grant provided by the Saudi Fund for Development.

Construction will be monitored in partnership with Greater Amman Municipality, the minister concluded.
