Patrol officers arrested a man in Amman on Tuesday evening, after a description of him was given out to police officers in the city.

The suspect was accused of exchanging 21,000 counterfeit Euros at several money exchange stores across the capital, a security source has said.

Officers were able to catch him in the act after setting a trap for him in one of the money exchange shops in Jabal Amman.

A special team from the Anti-Narcotics Department had been investigating the offender for several days before he was arrested.

Producing or using counterfeit money is a form of fraud or forgery and it is a crime punishable by law.

The offender is currently under investigation.
