Bakeries in Ajloun were subjected to the first quality inspection carried out by the Bakery Owners Syndicate and the Ministry of Industry and Trade on Sunday, Petra news agency reported.

The head of the syndicate in Ajloun, Abdulhafiz Smadi, stated that inspections throughout the holy month of Ramadan will be more frequent in order to ensure bakeries provide the quantity and quality of bread at the predicated price and in accordance to health regulations.

Smadi stated that the syndicate and the ministry have been coordinating activities and according to the strategy they had put in place, bakeries’ adherence to requirements will be examined in two tours, morning and evening.

Director at the ministry, Raed Khasawneh, pointed out that the inspectors will be issuing warnings and fines to bakeries that violate regulations.

Khasawneh asserted in a statement a few days prior that the the pricing of all food items, especially locally produced vegetables and poultry, will be closely monitored. He also reminded customers to refrain from buying goods from street stalls that are exposed to unsanitary conditions.
