Jordan was elected as a member of the executive board of the Arab Civil Aviation Commission (ACAC) during its 24th ordinary session held on 9-10 May in Rabat, Morocco, Petra news agency reported.

The session was attended by the delegations of 20 Arab countries in addition to other institutions including representatives of the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States, with which the commission is affiliated.

Jordan was joined by UAE, Bahrain, KSA, Oman, Qatar, Kuwait, Egypt and Morocco on the nine-member executive board team which will serve a two-year term.

Furthermore, Jordan became the Deputy Chair of the commission and secured a spot on the Environmental Committee.

Abdul Nabi Manar from Morocco was elected for the position of General Director, winning against candidates from Tunisia, Sudan, Libya and Egypt.

The ACAC was established in 1996 and is the coordinating body in regards to civil aviation among Arab nations. The association has four committees in addition to environment including Air Safety, ِAviation Security, Air Navigation and Air Transport.
