References to the protests in Gaza made by Jared Kushner, Trump’s son-in-law and advisor, during the opening of the US embassy in Jerusalem were removed from the official transcript of the White House, The Week magazine reported on Tuesday.

In his broadcased speech he described the Great Return March as a provocation to violence by saying "as we have seen from the protests of the last month, and even today, those provoking violence are part of the problem and not part of the solution." The remark was later omitted from the transcript.

A day later, US Ambassador to the UN, Nikki Haley, praised Israel’s “restraint” during her speech at the UN Security Council emergency meeting, claiming that “No country in this chamber would act with more restraint than Israel has.”

Her remarks came after the Israeli forces had killed over 50 Palestinians and injured more than 2700 near the Gaza borders, in what has become the deadliest day for Palestinians since the 2014 Gaza war.

Haley was not present for the Palestinian envoy address and made sure to veto a drafted statement by the Security Council that called for “an independent and transparent investigation into these actions to ensure accountability."
